What is a VA mortgage?
A VA home loan is a mortgage guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Because of that guarantee, there's often no down payment and no private mortgage insurance. Most borrowers pay a one-time VA funding fee instead, unless they're exempt. A down payment may still be needed if part of your benefit is tied up in another VA loan.
